2011-12 Faculty Letter

For those of you who are using this blog as a quick information source, here is the back to school faculty letter. I am also snail-mailing this, but it will be the last year. I want to move toward as much online communication as possible. I believe all faculty members have internet at home.

Dearest Faculty,

I hope you have had a fun and restful summer! As I am sure you know school will begin soon. Mr. Jemison, Mrs. Hodnett, and I (along with our hardworking maintenance dept.) have worked diligently to prepare the buildings and get things ready for the best year ever! If you haven’t visited lately, you will be pleased to know we have a sporty new lunchroom wall color, all of the tables now match (red swivel chairs are gone), both annex hallways were painted (including the bathrooms), and all hallways have been stripped of wax and rewaxed. The breezeway has received a good cleaning. The Senior Stones (by flagpole) were sealed to maintain these important signatures. I can’t wait until you see the main building floor. Mr. Jemison has worked extremely hard to make our school shine. Mrs. Diane visited frequently through the summer to give our plants a cool drink of water. There are many other surprises in store for everyone.

I am extremely proud of all of your efforts toward the spring state testing and can’t wait to share the AYP report, ARMT/SAT results, Science Assessment for 5th grade, DIBELS results, and other accomplishments of our students, staff, and faculty. Medals will be been ordered to recognize our Gold, Silver, and Bronze testers! Feel free to stop by to look over test results. You never cease to amaze me!

All of the training scheduled for the first 5 days is mandated by the Central Office. The rest of the time is slotted for you to prepare for students. Mrs. Hodnett has already placed a student list in your box with the contact information we have your students. Please be sure and contact each one by phone, letter, postcard, or visit. This is what makes R. L. Young so successful, PARENT INVOLVEMENT. It will also be the first impression they have of you and our school.

I look forward to seeing your rested, smiling faces on August 8 at THS. I’m tired of being alone at this big ole’ school!
